Just thought I would give you a peek at PART of what goes on around here as I am preparing for classes...I pull out everything that I think I might want to use, and then begin to put things together. This weekend I am teaching an altered book class, as well as a mixed media card class so I had lots of ideas, lots of goodies to "play" with...
The process IS a huge mess, but it is a lot of fun to play with all my "toys."
It all came together and here is the result of this particular process... :)
Create something today...and enjoy the process!

catch up
I can't believe it has been a whole month since I last posted...and I suppose that this upcoming month will be even crazier with the holidays...sigh...oh well...it is what it is...and I DO so love the holidays!!! :)
I just thought I would catch up with just a few of the things I have been working on, playing with lately...in/for/around teaching classes...all very fun...
Finished up Ink-tober....
Lettering as background...
Oh...and then a little of this...not "play on the page" but fun anyway...and just look at colors...yum!!!
And now this...
So much to be thankful for!
Blessings!

five
Documented Life Project prompt from a few weeks ago was "five layers"...this is my interpretation on my art journal page...
The collage element was "one" layer :) which we created in my Creekside Studio Sew Fun Art Journaling class last week (stitching-both with a sewing machine and by hand-is super fun! Try it!)
First, distress inks were applied directly to the paper, and also sponged through a hand-cut stencil. Second, I spritzed black marker ink through the Tim Holtz spritzer. Third, the journaling came next, in the "white" space created by the stencil...prompted by the word 'thrive' on the dictionary page and by Frida, my focal image...along with the doodling. Fourth, I glued down my collage layer. Finally, five!, I added a little acrylic paint grid for texture. Easy, peasy, lemon squeezy! :)

the finished page
Here is the finished page (from the last post)...at least for now I am happy with it...who knows, I may add to or alter it sometime...:) That is one of the things that I love about art journaling...just like me, the pages are always "in process".
I cut the "frame" with an exacto (a technique we worked on in my "Cut It Out!" class at Creekside Studio https://www.facebook.com/pages/Creekside-Studio/573215292765578 )...then I added a little doodling around the frame and the leaves...plus, I used the Gelly Roll stardust pen to add a bit of sparkle to the wing...you can't really see it in the photo, but its fun. :) I also gave the polka-dot butterfly antennas with a bit of thin brown twine tied on.
Hope you are enjoying your summer. :)

pages
I thought it would be fun to show you a few of the pages we "painted" in last Monday's Creekside Studio art journaling class...
Here is what we were working with... :) ...it was a very happy mess of supplies...

Some of these are finished but (as I have said before) most are still in process...I will add journaling, doodling, shading with graphite or charcoal, highlighting with white pens and/or gel pens as I am inspired...who knows...just like me, they are still in-the-making... :)
Are you "documenting" your process? :)

fun!
The warm-up exercise for our Art Journaling class at Creekside Studio was to stamp this fun circle stamp from Stampers Anonymous...I love making a spinner from this image...it is whimsical and interactive, which I love in my journals...and whether I actually "spin" it or not, its a fun prompt...
First I stamped script in yellow along the bottom of the page and the little Tim Holtz icons in black along the right edge of the page and cut around the images to create a fun page edge...Then I sprayed Dylusions spray inks over a stencil on a dictionary page, and glued it down. Finally I put the brad and spinner in the circle and taped it down...this is how it turned out...
Very fun!!!

my heart is full
Whew! What a fun day! The Open House for Creekside Studio was buzzing. I have to say that this has been a bit of a stretch...art is a very personal expression and putting it all out there feels pretty vulnerable...but what I have known for a long time is that EVERYONE is creative...we just each have to find our favorite mediums and outlets...watercolor, zentangling, music, quilting, cooking, knitting, whatever it may be...AND it is SO MUCH FUN to create together...with friends...and today that is what happened...people came and we talked art and life, and laughed, and ate, and made things...my heart is full...I am so very thankful for the support and encouragement of everyone who came today.
Here is a peek...
Too much fun! Thanks again to all of you who came! Hugs!

happy new year!
Welcome 2014!
The dust is finally settling after the holidays...whew!...so much fun, AND so much to do...all very worth the extra energy and effort. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season. :)
Some exciting news around here...Creekside Studio is opening the doors...I am finally doing something I have wanted to do for a very long time: - create an artistic space for people to come to connect with each other, to share creative ideas, to take a variety of art classes...a space for all things artsy...I am super excited about the unlimited possibilities in an environment and community like this. We will open the doors with an Open House on February 1 from 10am till 2pm. Come for the entire time or for just a little while. We will have refreshments, some projects to "play" with, and a schedule of classes. Lots of fun!

A new year is a great time to begin something new...like a new adventure in art! :) ...or do more of something you already love...come on by, bring a friend, and let's "create" together.
